Since the construction of the new Sheppey Crossing, things are starting to look more positive for the Island and to capitalise on this www.sheppeyonline.co.uk was launched.
There are several web sites that have been developed for Sheppey, some are of good quality, while others are not and are not updated at regular intervals, making the data worthless. This does little justice to a community that is being re-born with the opening of a new fixed link to the mainland and investment that is being attracted through various regeneration projects.
Sheppey On-Line is the first commercial website that promotes every positive image of the island; including its business, tourism and culture. Through the community ezine users can find information about local business, which is the core to any local economy. They can also find out more about the local community and the diverse range of activities that are available. The site also includes a free directory, which any business; group or local web site may add a listing.
Although this is a commercial site, community involvement in the ezine is encouraged. Groups, business and individuals may submit articles for inclusion.
Advertising opportunities are available on the site, primarily within the ezine.
Business can purchase a web page (a cheaper option than running their own web site). This service is also available to community groups at a discounted rate.
